Tim leads MIGA’s health advocacy, policy and engagement.

He works across a wide range of medico-legal, regulatory and professional issues, leading MIGA’s responses for its members and the broader profession to inquiries, reviews, consultations and other engagements.  These issues range from Medical Board / Ahpra to Medicare, healthcare consent to end of life care, and medication regulation to privacy. 

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Tim was responsible for MIGA’s responses to new and emerging healthcare issues, developing MIGA’s online COVID-19 Q&A (www.miga.com.au/coronavirus), working with governments, regulators and professional bodies, and guiding MIGA’s legal services and insurance teams in supporting its members and clients through the pandemic.  

He also educates the medical profession on medico-legal, regulatory and risk management issues, particularly at college and association national conferences, and has published widely on medico-legal and regulatory issues.   

For many years, Tim acted for doctors and hospitals in malpractice, disciplinary and coronial matters.

Tim is an Adjunct Fellow, Western Sydney University Schools of Medicine and Law, teaching undergraduate law and medical students, and an editorial board member, Australian Health Law Bulletin.
